In the beginning there was inspiration
The Townsend News Courant, (pronounced ‘current‘) is Townsend, Tenn.’s newest source for current and local internet news.
Inspiration for the name comes from The Daily Courant, supposedly the first successful, daily newspaper to be published in the United Kingdom.
Published by Edward Mallett from 1702–1735, the paper was printed on a single page and consisted of two columns. Mallet stated that he “would not add comments of his own, supposing other people to have sense enough to make reflections for themselves.” The Townsend News Courant intends to follow that very same policy.
The staff of Townsend News Courant hopes you enjoy reading it.
