Dresser joins Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont as Program Specialist

MaryDresserGreat Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont has added a new position to its Programming Team.  Mary Dresser has joined the Tremont staff as Program Specialist.  Her responsibilities include developing, planning and coordinating program schedules for all school groups and some non-school programs.  Dresser will also assist with teaching and leading hikes.  She is a member of Tremont’s program leadership team, which sets course for professional development for teaching staff and programs.

Dresser grew up in Wisconsin and has worked in environmental education and natural resources management in several states including Wisconsin, Kentucky, and Illinois.  She is looking forward to sharing her love of nature with Tremont’s students.

Dresser holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Spanish from the University of Wisconsin—Oshkosh and a Master of Science degree in Wildland Recreation Management/Environmental Education from the University of Idaho.  She is a member of the National Association for Interpretation and the Tennessee Environmental Education Association.

Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont is a private 501(c)(3) non-profit organization within Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  Since 1969, Tremont has provided in-depth experiences to over half a million people of all ages through residential educational programs designed to nurture appreciation of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, celebrate diversity, and foster stewardship.
