Internship

The Townsend News Courant offers for-credit internships to college students who have completed significant course work in journalism, communications and related fields of study.   We usually offer these unpaid opportunities to students from in and around Blount County, Tenn. who are going to local schools, such as Maryville College, Pellissippi State, University of Tenn., or who come home from other universities for summer break.  Interested students need to inquire with their departmental dean’s office to determine whether the school will approve a for-credit internship (Most schools offer them as a senior practicum or work/study option.)

Skills Desired

Interns get the benefit of skilled supervision, training and experience in news production, working with skilled colleagues and building a strong portfolio of published work.   We agree to consult with academic advisers about the intern’s experience and to complete a final evaluation for grading purposes.
