Tom G. Taylor, Jr., 1912-2009

Tom G. Taylor, Jr., 97, of Maryville, Tenn., passed away on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009.   He was born July 6, 1912, in Oklahoma City, Okla., son of Thomas Griffin Taylor, Sr., and Edna Williamson Taylor.  Tom attended the University of Oklahoma and served as First Sergeant in World War II in the 90th Division Artillery.   He participated in five major battles including Normandy and Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal.   Tom first worked at J. C. Penney and later worked as a self-employed real estate broker.  He was preceded in death by daughter, Mary Jane Taylor.  Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Margaret “Peggy” Williams Taylor; daughter, Patsy Taylor Lunde and husband, Bradford Scott Lunde; granddaughters, Laura Lunde Ringo and husband, John Wilson Ringo, Jr. and Susan Lunde Scruggs and husband, Benjamin Steel Scruggs.  The funeral service was held Friday, Sept. 4, at Hahn-Cook Chapel with entombment following in Rose Hill Mausoleum in Oklahoma City, Okla.  Memorials can be made to the Blount County Library, 508 N.
