Agnes Goddard Compton, died August 31, 2009, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was 93 years old. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church for more than 70 years where she taught in the Jr. Department for a number of years. She was a graduate of Maryville College and taught in the Blount County School System for a total of 22 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Olah Delle Payne Goddard and Edgar Blaine Goddard; her husband, Mortimer Compton; her son, David Mortimer Compton and wife Norma Compton; and sister, Geraldine Hancox. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Donald Fint; by her grandchildren, Hope Garner, David Compton, Jr., Lisa Compton, and step-grandchildren, Lisa Breedlove and Kim Collins; great-grandchildren, Chastity Wilson, Kaitlyn Compton, Jestin Compton, Madison Collins, Quint, and Jack and Jane Marie Breedlove; also, by brother-in-law, Robert Hancox; niece, Kathie Gross and husband Michael; nephew, Robert A. Hancox; and great nephews, Andy and David Hancox, and Greg and Jonathan Gross. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Brenda and Larry Carroll officiating. The interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery.
