Byrd joins Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont as Director of Development and Public Relations

TOWNSEND – Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont has added a new member to its Management Team.  Sandra Byrd has joined the Tremont staff as Director of Development and Public Relations.  She will be responsible for development/fundraising and public relations efforts, including the support for and the public awareness of Tremont’s extensive environmental education curriculum.

Byrd grew up in Memphis and has worked in development/public relations for the past thirty years.  She is pleased to be back in Tennessee and working inside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, a park that she and her husband have visited and enjoyed since childhood.

Byrd has served a variety of nonprofits over her career including Habitat for Humanity International, the Ida Cason Callaway Foundation at Callaway Gardens and the Devereux Foundation.
