Alvin Lamar (Molly) Stinnett of Maryville, died at Blount Memorial Hospital on Nov. 11, 2009, after a long battle with cancer. Born Aug. 30, 1933, Lamar was the beloved youngest child of the late Willie and Blanche Shelton Stinnett of Townsend. Also preceded in death by son, Daniel (Danny) Stinnett of Maryville; sisters, Ruth Neff Phillips and Verl Breazeale of Townsend; five brothers-in-law, and other much loved family and friends. Known to many as “Molly,” he had a long career with Mack’s Used Cars in Maryville, working there from the mid 1960’s until 1990 and making countless friends. Like many true mechanics, he continued fixing and repairing things in his home garage until just weeks before his death. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carol Nuchols Stinnett, whom he married Feb. 1, 1960. He tried to hold on for their 50th Anniversary but could not; and all who knew them, know their life together was a true love story until the very end. Also left to mourn his passing are son, Robert (Robby) Stinnett and wife Missy; daughter, Jama Stinnett; daughter-in-law, Pat Stinnett, all of Maryville; sister, Billie (Mrs. Melvin O.) Webb of Townsend; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and “The best neighbors and most wonderful friends a man could ever have.” Funeral services will be at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009 with Rev. J.B. Bach officiating. The family and friends will meet at Memorial Funeral Home in Maryville, Tenn. to proceed to Entombment services Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum in Maryville. The family will receive friends Saturday evening, Nov. 14, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent at website www.MemorialFuneralHomeInc.com.
